Wisdom

It is great to be wise, and everyone wants to be one.

But how does one gain wisdom? Can we get it from reading books, from people more experienced than us, from our own life experiences. ..? Definitely, yes.
From the moment we are born into this world, we keep learning from our parents, siblings, friends, environment, and people we come in contact with.

In life, we have to make choices every day, and they have to be smart or wise ones. Unwise choices in life cost us a lot in more ways than we can count.
So the question remains: How do we gain wisdom?
Psalms 119:98-100 has illustrated 3 stages to gaining the ultimate wisdom.
This wisdom is attained by

1- knowing or having the Word of God

2- Meditating the Word of God

3-Obeying the Word of God.

Psalms 119 (KJV) –
98: Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies:
for they are ever with me.
99: I have more understanding than all my teachers:
for thy testimonies are my meditation.
100: I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

The first stage of wisdom is being wiser than your enemy.

Let’s see the oxford dictionary of some terms first,
Knowledge – information or skill acquired through experience or education
Understanding – perceive the intended meaning of (words, language, or speech)
Perceive the significance of, explanation, or cause of
Wisdom – a body of knowledge and skills that develop over a particular period.
My version of the definition of wisdom goes something like this- It is living or deciding according to the right understanding of the good knowledge acquired or illuminated.

God inspired people to have his Word written and we possess it in the form of the bible. Knowing this Word means we know about the Creator and creation, how human beings fell, about the pricey redemption, and the coming kingdom.

In between these, we learn about our enemy, who never wanted us to rein with God as planned in the beginning. We learn of his fall, defeat, and his final judgment.
Knowing the Word, we  know where we are in terms of position and authority and who we are in terms of genealogy. The enemy always wants to keep us ignorant, for ignorance is lack of knowledge.
In order to know this Word, we have to read his Word diligently and commit it to memory, so we can have it with us always.

Then our enemy is not going to outsmart us.

1-Psalms 119:98 “Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me”

We will see the next stage of wisdom in the next blog
