When I am afraid ,I will trust in you, Lord

Fear came to the human heart after Adam and Eve disobeyed the Lord.

Fear is an emotion triggered by the possibility of negative or unfavorable outcome.

We are afraid when we perceive, we might be harmed physically or endure loss of what is important to us or face humiliation.

God has said many times to different people in the bible, “Don’t be afraid”

Some literature say there are 365 “Don’t be afraid” phrases in the bible.

God still says, ” Don’t be afraid,” to us, because he is all-knowing and Almighty, who works things out for our good.

So if this God is your God, you should not be afraid.

If you are in a fire, He can order it to not harm you. If you are in the ocean, He can order the whale to  keep you safe in its belly. If you are surrounded by an army, He can just send an angle that kills hundreds of thousands.  If you are caught in the storm, He can order the sea and wind to be quiet. If your child is sick, He can heal, and if death comes, He can wake the dead again. If you are sick or paralyzed for years,  He can make you whole again. If you are blind (physically and spiritually), He can make you see again.

There is nothing He can not do. He makes everything beautiful.

Sometimes, he might not answer the way we expect or want, but still, his plan is perfect.

When you love and trust God, there will be no fear in your heart. If God is your strength and shield, who or what can stand against God?

Psalms 27 (KJV) –
1: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
the LORD is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2: When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

But sometimes fear still creeps in our hearts, like the psalmist we should remember in whom we trust and say, “When I am afraid, I will trust in you”

And remind the frightened soul, the miracles He has done and still does.

Remember He loves us! His plan is to prosper us and give us a future in His Kingdom.

Romans 8 (KJV) –
29: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

To conform the image of his Son on us, he would take us through the process of growth, which might be uncomfortable, even painful for a time being.

Should these growing pains cause fear or anxiety? Not at all!

Because you will come out the other side with more clarity of God and his power.

The disciples learned that Jesus Christ can silence the storm after enduring one.

The God who silences the storms of life also promises He will be there with us to deliver us.

Isaiah 43 (KJV)
“2: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee;
and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee
when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned;
neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”

Indeed, this is a wonderful promise, and God is always true to his promises.

God also cautions us against fear of people.

Luke 12 (KJV) –
“4: And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5: But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
6: Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
7: But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

The israelites forgot how powerful God is and complained to the Lord when they heard the report of the 10 spies.

Numbers 14 KJV –
“3: And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?”

The fear made them cry the whole night, even wanted to stone those that reminded them of God’s power.

Fear makes you think and act irrational.

Let’s read what God said when the Israelites acted that way;

And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?”

Not trusting in God and not remembering his miraculous signs made the people forget that He is all-powerful and can do anything.

Let us trust God. Let not fear get foothold in our hearts.

Shalom.
