I love this beautiful song below. And it fits well with the topic we are discussing toady.
“My worth is not in what I own
Not in the strength of flesh and bone
But in the costly wounds of love
At the cross
My worth is not in skill or name
In win or lose, in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed
At the cross
I rejoice in my redeemer
Greatest treasure
Wellspring of my soul
And I will trust in him, no other
My soul is satisfied in him alone
As summer flowers we fade and die
Fame, youth and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us
At the cross
I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom’s fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ
At the cross
I rejoice in my redeemer
Greatest treasure
Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in him, no other
My soul is satisfied in him alone
Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed, my ransom paid
At the cross
And I rejoice in my redeemer
Greatest treasure
Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in him, no other
My soul is satisfied in him alone
And I rejoice in my redeemer.”

Let go back to the question again. What is your worth?
In today’s world , an individual’s worth is measured by the assets you have, your fame, your position of authority or power, and connections with people of power or influence.
According to the world, the more you have all the above, the more you’re worth.
We have this inherent desire to show everyone that we are valued, to prove that our worth is higher than some people around us. (We can call this pride.)
Lots of people believe the more expensive house you have, the latest fancy car , expensive brand clothing, purse, shoes, perfumes….. the more your worth.
So people save or borrow to buy that expensive brand. This way they can inflate “their worth”.
As a Christian, what is our worth or what is your worth?
The song above said ” the blood on the cross”
And I agree with it.
When we confess that Jesus is our savior and Lord in true repentance, we became right with God through the sacrifice on the cross.
We become new creation, children of God.
” And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” Rom 8:17.
Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, we become heirs of God. To calculate the riches of God is impossible!
I am not saying we should not buy good quality products or seek something better.
We can buy “things” as they might be good quality, but we do not have to buy items to increase our worth or try to align with certain class in the world.
Our worth is much higher, and no amount of money can equate.
The price Jesus Christ paid at the cross!
Blessings.
Shalom.
