God is near!

Philippians 4 :4(SEV)- “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5: Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7: And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Whenever we are faced with difficulty or anxiety provoking situations, we tend to seek help either from family or friends or professionals.

Imagine you are in need of money and a family member you can borrow from is near, you don’t sit and fret about the money needed. You will ask, right?

And Imagine you have defective plumbing, and you have a good friend who is a plumber. You don’t sit and fret about what you are going to do.

You will pick up the phone and ask the friend for help.

Or if you or others in your family get sick and want quick advice from trusted medical professionals. If you have someone on your speed dial, you will call and ask your questions.

When we realize that the problem we have encountered can easily be solved by a friend or family, we are not anxious about it at all.

Now the apostle Paul is writing , the Lord is near!

He is closer than our breath. The Lord is Almighty. There is nothing He can’t solve.

We are being advised to tell the Lord our problems and stop worrying about it.

I am sure a lot of people will say that it is easier said than done.

The barren lady,Hannah, who later became the mother of Samuel, could not conceive for years. Peninnah had sons and daughters.

Peninnah provoked Hannah to depression and anxiety.

What Hannah did was tell the Lord her problem and her desire in prayer and petition.
“And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.” (1 Samuel 1:10 )
“And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.”

(1 Samuel 1:18 )

When we understand that the Lord, who is near, is the God who created the Heaves and earth with a word.

We will not doubt about his ability but rest in his provision and care.

He is near!

What is it that is worrying you today?

What is making your heart heavy?

He is near!

In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanks giving, we should tell him.

When we trust that He is able and will give us what we need ( not wants), the peace that transends all understanding fills our heart.

Shalom
