Purpose of life

The most important question everyone asks  or should ask is, why am i here on Earth?

The bible gives us clear answers.

In Genesis, God created Adam in his image and likeness. Put him on earth to work it. Man was made to have a relationship with his Creator and enjoy all that God has given him freely.

Genesis 3:8:” Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”

Adam and Eve knew the sound of the Lord God. Only this time, it made them fearful.

Adam was given knowledge and wisdom.

Unfortunately, Adam chose to separate  from his Creator. He was deceived to believe that he could have life without the Source of Life, His Creator.

God being merciful, decided to rescue mankind.

He sent His Son to die for our instead so we can be free from death and our relationship to our Source of Life restored.

So mankind on Earth is looking for the way home, home to his Source, his Father.( Father means source.)

Jesus said ‘ I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Through Jesus Christ, we can go to the Father. The Lord Jesus paid the penalty of our sins. Through his righteousness, we can approach the Holy God.

That is why the Lord Jesus is saying, no one can come to the Father except through me.

Some people think we are here to get wealth or power or fame or influence.

We can see that Jesus declined Satan’s offer of power and wealth during his trial in the desert.

Matthew 4:8: “Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9: “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10: Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written:
Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ ”

The purpose of life on earth is not to get  wealth, power or fame but have relationship with God.

There are many in our world today who fell to the trap of wealth and power. Some openly said they sold their soul to Satan to get the wealth and fame.

Jesus said in Mark 8 :36-37, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?
Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?”

Truly, every one who is born has to die,

And no one takes their power, fame, and money to the grave.

The soul is eternal. To exchange it for temporary things is extreme short sightedness, to put it mildly.

The Lord Jesus advised us about priorities in Matthew 6:33:” But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

In summary, having relation ship and continuing in close fellowship with the Lord God is first step.

Those who have had their relationship with the Source of life restored should make that relationship grow by spending time with Him and His Word.

For those looking for the meaning of life, knowing the one true God and Jesus Christ whom he sent is eternal life.

John 17:3: “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

Shalom.
