God commanded Israelitis to not eat blood “For the life of the flesh is in the blood” Leviticus 17:11
We can easily see that life is in the blood. If the blood supply to a finger is cut off, the finger dies.
If there is a small clot in the blood vessels of the heart, the area with no blood flow dies – this is commonly called heart attack.
If a blood supply to the brain is cut off,
the area affected dies, this is called stroke.
There is great rash in the hospital if one is suspected of stroke or heart attack. The aim is to restore blood flow. Once the blood flow is restored, the tissue lives ( the amount of time the tissue has been without blood affect its survival )
In John 6:63
Jesus says, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life”
What a powerful and wonderful statement!
The living Word gives us life and sustains that life.
1 Peter 1:23: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.”
We are born again by the incorruptible Word of God, which lives and endures!
Hebrews 4:12 tells us “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
The Word is not only living but also active. It rebukes, encourages, consoles, and judges….
Isaiah 55:10: “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11: so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Our physical body needs blood to circulate all the time, so our flesh can live.
Can you imagine how much we need the living Word?
I pray out hearts will be like the fertile soil as in the parable the Lord Jesus gave. So the Word can produce fruit.
Matthew 13:23: “But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Shalom.
