Genesis 6:4: “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
5: The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.
6: The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.
7: So the Lord said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.”

Noah was found righteous and God told him to make an Ark for him and his family and animals that were to come on board.

Once the first world passed away,

“Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.” Gen 9:1

The people did become fruitful and multiplied, but they didn’t want to  scatter.

” They said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11:4

We can see they made a city but needed tower. This tower is not for their residence but meeting place with  diety, but not Yahwe.

If we look in to history, this tower is like Zigurrat, which is in different countries, Mesopotamia( Iraq) and   Mexico, which is used to worship other gods.

The King of Babel and the surrounding cities, was Nimrod.

Which means “rebel” in Hebrew.

Let see this character a little in detail.

Genesis 10:8″ Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth.
9: He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.”

Genesis 10:10 “The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh, in Shinar.
11: From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah
12: and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.”

This king has lots of territories and he was the leader in Shinar where the tower was built.

Some historians say he was mighty hunter against the Lord not before the Lord.

Josephus Flavius ( Jewish historian) describes Nimrod as power-hungry tyrant, who tricked the people into building the towel of Babel as a way of cementing his control over them.

Josephus says he was a dictator that turned people from fear of God to fear Goverment.

Nimrod was hunter not only for animals but people as well.

This Nimrod lead rebellion in worshiping Yahwe, He and the people with him, wanted other gods.

God, in his mercy, came down and mixed the languages and scattered the people from there over all the earth, so they abandoned building the tower.
